How To Think Like A Lawyer (Even When You Don’t Have A Law Degree)

May 31, 2018 by Sarah Lynch Leave a Comment

How to think like a lawyer | BucketOrange Magazine

he art of thinking like a lawyer. It's a form of swift reasoning, cool logic, effortless problem-solving skills and precision analysis that many non-lawyers wished they possessed in heated exchanges between partners, friends or colleagues. It's the kind of calculated mental weaponry that shields you from unhelpful, inflammatory emotions while actively disarming your opponent … [Read more...]

Laws Of Conversation: How To Argue Like A Lawyer (Vol. 2)

November 4, 2017 by Sarah Lynch Leave a Comment

ove them or hate them, learning to argue like a lawyer is still everyone's obsession. It's not just because lawyers can always identify the appropriate moment to combine mind-bending reasoning and logic with rapid-fire silver-tongued rhetoric in a way that consistently obliterates the opposition in an argument (although that's a big part of it). It's … [Read more...]

9 Reasons Why A Law Degree Is A Life Skill, Not Just A Career

February 17, 2017 by Lauren Osbich Leave a Comment

I have lost count of the number of lawyer jokes I have heard, as well as the number of times that I have been labelled a “failed lawyer” or a “reformed lawyer”. What does a lawyer get when you give him Viagra?Taller. But in spite of the inevitable jibes and jokes, many of us choose to pursue legal careers because of a desire to do good and to help solve the life … [Read more...]

Think Like A Lawyer: Using Law Student Life Hacks To Get Ahead At Work

August 2, 2016 by Emily Russell Leave a Comment

I am going to lay it all on the table bluntly – there is nothing that truly prepares you for the stress of law school. That reality is all too real right now as I sit writing in my onesie, holding my 3rd cup of tea, and going over my exam revision notes. But like anything in life, it all depends on how you look at the situation. If you are a 'glass half full' kind of person, … [Read more...]

Laws Of Conversation: How To Argue Like A Lawyer

June 15, 2015 by Sarah Lynch Leave a Comment

Lawyers tend to get a bad wrap. From perceived profiteering from the misfortune of others to exorbitant fees and long delays in litigation, many young Australians would prefer a meaningful exchange with a sledgehammer and their face over a conversation with a legal professional. But while lawyers have long-endured all manner of jokes and … [Read more...]

BucketOrange ~ MADE WITH LOVE

Some think love can be measured by the number of times their heart races. Others think love can be declared with diamonds, flowers or grand romantic gestures. But we think love can only truly be demonstrated by actions. It can be found in the little things, like making a mixtape, or peeling an orange for someone because you know they don't like doing it.

That's why we created BucketOrange Magazine. We understand that sometimes in life the things that are good for us come in inconvenient packages. Exercise is important, but requires dedication. Eating well is crucial, but requires discipline. Maintaining your legal health is critical, but the law is hard to digest.

BucketOrange is a hand-crafted labour of love. With each word we unpeel the law's greatest mysteries into bite-sized segments - so all that's left for you to do is consume, enjoy and share the love!
